Interior options
Hi,
A little advice. I have 2 944s. a red 86-951 in which I installed a blue interior with black dash top and seat centers. I finally found what AB color code meant Guards Red with black interior with Porsche script seats.
I have a light gold 89-944 auto converted to an S2. I has the black interior with Porsche script seat, split folding rear seats.
Should I swap interiors? Put the blue interior in the gold car, change to bench rear seat? And put the black interior in the red car?

Swapping would lead to more classic color combos. That said it is a bit of work to do. The 951 will be more original that way and the split seat is nice. Which do you use more? which is the nicer car?
Also visit only944.com they have shifter boots for pretty cheap, get the leather inner one as well. It will make a huge improvement in the look of your console areas.

I did the spray dye once before. I got lazy and put some cheap paint too and just wrecked it.
I now have to clean it off and start over.
Next issue is should I go with a blue with black center or blue centers.

Not quite. See this link:

That code only covers the interior and has nothing to do with the exterior.
That said, the interior in the gold car looks fantiastic and it is not too "blue". I would do the swap.

Don't waste your time. The rear seats won't work from the 89 to the 86 if there the split back. There's no middle brackets for the rear seat back to mount to on the 86. And the 89 has shoulder belts that have welded in brackets with different back panels for the rear seat belt to come thru and the 86 doesn't.
