Summer pics of my 85.1
Decided to start a thread that contains summer pics of my first 944. A 944 that I cherish to this day. One that I brought back from an inevitable trip to the crusher. I like playing with different simple angles and filters and thought that I would start a thread and update it with pics of the car throughout the remainder of the summer. As I take the car places and take new pics I will update this thread.

Good question. The 944 handles far better than the FB or SA that I have. The overall build quality is much higher in the 944. Where the FB excels over the 944 is the interior build quality. Never do you see cracking dashes or crazy electrical gremlins like the 944. Overall the 944 is the better car. Faster, better handling, better steering response and braking. Its more fuel efficient and has a better ride.
The RX-8 is a different animal however. Razor sharp telepathic steering, excellent ride, decent build quality, amazing brakes, great acceleration etc.. The RX-8 and the 944 are too far apart as far as age is concerned to be compared fairly. However, I think it would be a good match-up on an autocross or road course between an RX-8 and a 944.
Both cars have unique qualities that attract me and keep me longing for more in each car. I love them both.

Didn't really get too many more pics of the car over the summer. Maybe this upcoming week. Need to weld a couple of the nuts for the driver's seat where it mounts to the floor. The covers for the nuts have spread apart and the seat is loose. Going to do that today.

It's great that you are taking on such a project as the 944's are great platforms. My first Porsche was a '83 944 which I drove every day through rain, snow and lots of sunny days and just enjoyed the heck out of it. I did all the work on the car myself and learned a lot about the brand and Porsche's way of thinking, but that was many moons ago. By the looks of your garage you do a lot of the work yourself and enjoy variety. That's cool as well. Hopefully the winter will stay away for a little while longer so that you can continue to enjoy all your toys.

The color is what sold me on the car to be honest. Before I bough this car, I had always loved the 944 and thought that if the right one came along I'd buy it. I found the car back in 2011 and brought it home and have been enjoying it since. I've owned 4 944's since then and kept the two that I love the most. I wish I had the indoor storage space to have kept them all.
