Best 924 Carrera GT Body Panels?
I am in the middle of my conversion ('87 924S with 3.0L 16v engine) and I would like to convert the body to a 924 Carrera GT. I see that GT Racing and American International Racing both have all of the panels/parts (front bumper, front fenders, hood scoop, rear flares, rear bumper, turbo nose panel, etc...) Does anyone have any experience with the quality (fitment & build) of either company's parts? The price difference is not big enough to warrant one over the other if quality is higher to me. Thanks in advance.

I can't help with the body panels but I feel compelled to ask...
Do you have the red 924S that's running around with 944 fenders in the front? That car seems like it might be the kind of project you're doing.

No, my 924S currently has factory panels on it. It is also sitting in my shop with the engine & trans out.
I have seen that car around though.

Gotcha.
That said, I've got a Rennspeed vented nose panel that I'm willing to let go of cheap. I bought it because my current 931 nose panel needed some extra work so I thought the aftermarket one would be easier but decided that, with the finishing it needed, I may as well spend the effort on the factory part.
Seriously, I just want it gone. Come check it out and if you like it, $50 and it's yours.

BTW, I too have a 924S getting a 968 3.0. and want to do the same kit on one in the future, but making this look like a Martini edition with some spice.

Replied.
IIRC, the local Porsche forum said good things about Rennspeed which is part of why I went with them. They were also the only one that seemed to have the tabs for the vents. Granted, the tabs aren't perfect but enough to work with versus nothing at all.

Not trying to start an argument, but why ruin (jet another) elegant 924 body(with a great engine inside this time) by slapping on CGT replicated stuff that does not even look like the real thing?
Most fiberglass kits i have seen dont look like the original and you cant fool anyone who apreciates the CGT as they would imediatly know that you are running a fiberglass kit.
Surely it would look epic with just some pretty wheels and lowered a bit.

Im not sure I would call the 924 body elegant. Plus, it is something I really would like to do. The car is not going to be a show car, it will be a driver with some DE/track time on it as well.

If you want, give it some time, it will grow on you like you would not believe it. If you dont need more tire width that you can fit under the 924 narrow arches its pointless to spend money on body parts, wheels that fit the new body and a paint job. Having said i dont want to make an argument out of this, i'll stop here. Best of luck with your project.
PS: i didnt find the 924 body pleasant to look at when i was younger but growing up made me apreciate it...same went for the narrow body 911 and the wide body 911. They are all cool for their own thing, wide ones for their almost exagerated hips and narrow ones for their elegancy and simplicity.
