Default Battery Terminal - The Bad and Ugly.

If your positive terminal looks like this it's time to replace it.

Used the same but soldered heavy copper lugs onto the ends of the four wires, three 10 gauge and one 0 gauge, and clamped them under the bolts. Did not use the serrated clamping area.

No this is not my battery terminal.

Found out from the car's owner that cleaning this up has cured a lot of performance problems.

So if you have stumbling or other hickups and shudders think about it.

One of the reasons I got a good deal on my car! The positive wire was internally corroded up to 3"; car would cut out intermittantly, and if you turned off the car lights it would.

Just opened up the wire, cut out the corrosion on the first, then cut the pop-up light motor wire from the control, and voila, no more stalls! The poor previous owner had even replaced the starter cable, thinking that was it.
