Hey Tom--

When I took my old tensioner out, the pads had wear grooves in them...but didn't seem brittle or explosive! I guess it's just luck if at 107k, the pads haven't given way yet. And EASY fix though! Like you said, as long as the car never had over-heating problems....!

Tony,
sent you a PM

It is interesting how Tony's cobalt blue car has a black logo, while my azure blue turbo has a silver one. No doubt cobalt is a brighter shade, mine looks black in some lights

dashes without cracks aren't hard to find. The paint on my parts car is completely toasted like you wouldn't believe, but the dash and interior are PERFECT. Car sat unprotected in sunlight for probably a year+ before I picked it up.

The coolant tank should last at least 4 or 5 years my mechanic said. Or maybe thats with my case? I dont drive it daily. Thats what i asked though, how long? My guess is at least 5 unless its a hot daily driver. Get them online. Mine was like 70 or something. PCNA wanted like $160. Please...

mine had grooves at 69k, explosive because he is advertising it as needing no maintenance, and he told me the car needs absolutely nothing.

Tony--Is it a PITA to change the tank? I assume you would have to drain and replenish the coolant? Really looks better than the usual yellow versions!

Why Porsche didn't come out with a better tensioner design is beyond me! I guess there aren't many car companies that plan for cars to be around for 15 years!

I dont think anyone can say absolutely nothing! Hahaha, even my car needs something! The paint on the gold camshaft (?) case, is that it?, is starting to chip. I need to repaint that piece or just replace its backing. And dont tell, but if i get a lot of water on my rear hatch, i have a small droplet leak! I find drops of water on my rear seat! I dont care, it rarely sees water except when i wash. So if thats ALL mine needs (because im obssesive...) then i would never believe someone else who says otherwise. I even had the inside of my engine checked, and all the belts and hoses checked in detail when i got mine! Unless he can prove...you never know!

easy to change the tank. just get a few long screwdrivers to wedge so the hoses stay up.

dont drain anything. pull the tank rest it at an angle, install the new one, then drain the old tank into the new one.

No way man, i had my mechanic do it. He is great. I didnt need to do a coolant flush, he was able to tie it off and just refill the loss. (its pretty new anyways) He said its a pretty easy swap. (it was only like 30 mnute labor charge or something...)

My wife would love me spending $75 on a fresh coolant tank, and another $100+ on a cam cover refinish!

If it's that easy, a clean coolant tank would really make ME happier when I have the hood up!

When I owned the Dove Blue S2, I had in mind to paint it (Dove blue again) and paint the 944S2 badge black. No tape striping, no Porsche script. Then either polish the wheels or paint them bright silver (Wurth) and color the center caps. I think it would look great.

I saw another dove blue S2 in New Mexico for sale, with over 200K on it. I was tempted... I shouldn't be, given how little I drive the cars I already have, but I like the damn things.

I think my Brother's 968 might be Cobalt Blue. I'll have to have a closer look at it sometime. Great color.

That's pretty much the plan for the car, Joel.
The pinstripe is already gone, the 'Porsche' decal on the back will be gone, the emblem in black, bridge spoiler, 968 mirrors and door handles, splitter, and repaint.
I already painted the centercap crests and I will repaint the wheels very soon. I'm going to upgrade to 17" wheels (looking for 993 cups) and keep the D90's for bad weather.
