I just pulled the T-stat on my 84. It was not easy -- after some finagling I got the snap ring to get one side out of the groove -- then I worked a screw driver around to get it completely out.

I had to drop the power steering pump to make room.

After a few busted knuckles i decided that i can replace the thermostat at a later date. So i decided to install the used radiator that arrived from kentucky. It apparently came off of a 28k mile car. But after i filled the system it started to have a slow leak coming from the right side of the radiator, im hoping i just didnt tighten up a hose enough lol. The only things that i have to do before i can get the car reinspected is the inner tie rod, figure out the front sway bar reinstall, and figure out why my horn isnt working. Its still a long list but its alot shorter than it used to be.

 

The car keeps on leaking water and it looks like its coming from the left side right above the electronics for the radiator. But i think that i tightened everything up enough so idk what the probloem is.Hopefully they didnt send me a radiator that was shot. Any ideas?

 

Take it down to a local radiator shop and get it pressure tested. IDK if it's aluminum or brass..but if it's a brass one, you can repair it a whole bunch easier than an aluminum one. If there is not a rad shop close, you can go to AutoZone and rent a radiator pressure tester. It's a zero cost deal ....if you take the rad with you , they'll probably let you test it in the store free, and help you with the correct adapter.
