Default 87 944 Suspension Quandry

Hi Guys,

Yet another noob question, but here goes....

I'm looking to overhaul the suspension setup in my 87 944, I've come across Spax kits as they seem to be fairly good value as they're "bolt in" etc

As much as I'd love to spend big dollars on an amazing setup, this car is my daily driver and all I'm looking to achieve is a drop in height and to replace 25+ yo suspension, any suggestions guys?

Would I be better off going for a strut replacement all around and a drop in spring height?

Thanks in advance guys

F

Stick with a known proven European brand like Koni or Bilstein. Spax is made in Taiwan and they do not have a Porsche following, probably for a good reason.

IMO the original Boge/Sachs are excellent on a daily driver, you will immediately notice a huge difference from your 25yo suspension. You could fit the slightly stiffer and lower front Welt spring to them and lower the rear on the eccentric. Don't forget to change all the bushes WYIT.

Thanks for your advice, I guess your suggestion would be more cost effective too,
Any idea where the best place to buy aforementioned shocks and springs from?
I'm in Australia but can ship internationally obviously

Just call up Jay @ Ground Control. He'll ask you a bunch of questions and set you up with exactly what you need. I'm still setting mine up, as well as a suspension bushing package from Paragon Products. Good stuff!

Oh, I just now saw the Australia thing. Not sure about that.

The Koni rear shocks and front strut inserts work very nicely for a street car. I haven't driven them on the track, but I imagine they'd do OK there as well. Lowering springs are cheaply available and the rear suspension can be adjusted to any height without buying anything (although the process is labor intensive).

I recommend Koni Sport yellows for street and AutoX. I have had them for a year on my S2 and they provide comfortable and sporty ride. Definitely, replace the old and worn out bushings in yiur sway bars and control arms.

I carry some of the parts. Feel free to send me an email if interested.

Muscles intensive for sure! Have a good impact wrench or a big cheater:

Hi guys,

I've come across these, I feel like they'll give me the ride and functionality I'm after but I thought I'd get some opinions before I hand over the cash

Thanks
