Default why shouldnt i buy this car

a 93 Z28 six speed, chipped, sway bars, bilsteins, etc. 31k

or

an 84 944 with 43k, 50k, 65k.

dont know if they have the factory konis & sway bar package.

i figure no more than say 6000 for the 944s with new belts, or 7500 for the Z28.

The poll thingie works. vote for camaro or porsche to replace my stolen S2 as a commuter/weekend toy.

Hey Tom, a hypothetical question. What happens if the ins. co. cuts you a check, you buy a car, and your S2 turns up with no damage?

On topic: I haven't seen, driven, or ridden in a GM car that was worth the tin it was made of in 25 years. We just had a 2003 Malibu loaner car here at work and it rattled like a bag of marbles. It only has 8000 miles on it.

Are you planning on also growing out the requisite mullet?

If no, then go with the 944

pete,
after they cut the check the car is theirs. thats why they are waiting close to the thirty day period to make me an offer i should refuse.

Fanatic,
the windows on the camaro are tinted so i can go incognito.

Ummm..because you're not 15?

Stick with the 944! A z28 is a total POS that will be falling appart from the inside! Dash rattles, interior parts fall off. Junk with a big engine!

Tom,

Depends on what kind of "feeling" you are going for on your car. As you know they both have very different personalities. One is made to burn up the dragstrip while the other is made to handle the corners.

I'm thinking the 944 just because you still have the Firebird to quench your thirst for American muscle. But maybe you'll want to keep looking for a Turbo or S2 since cutting out nearly 60 horsepower from your previous 944 may make you very unhappy.

My uncle has an early 90's Z28. Not a bad car, but I'd take my car over it. I haven't driven an S2, but I don't know if you'll like stepping down to an early NA from one.

I hate the cramped nature of the z28 (and all F-body cars). I've yet to meet one that impressed me. To wide on the outside, to narrow on the inside - all weight between the 2 sides.

Rented one of these during honeymoon in Maui, but it was only the V-6.....Even with the convertible option it was pretty sad. I think I would look elsewhere. Since it is only a commuter, does it have to be RWD?? I dig my '91 GTi and it was only $1.5K

Cheers,

Tom- 7500 for a 93 Z28 is about 2 times too much for it. They go for no more than 4K here with the 6 speed. Further, if you think the 944 was tough to work on, good luck getting the back two plugs out. I URGE you not to buy one, you will not like it.

Hey Tom-

Just for kicks, find a Z28 forum, and ask the same question. I bet you get 100 kids saying how great their Camaro's are, compared to "those lame slow old Audi/Porsches"!

It's all relative!

PS--Anything from GM that's 10 years old sucks quality wise. Period!

Since you have a problem with thieves, I would stay away from an f-body. That is the car every thief knows how to jack. Nothing short of a Rhodesian Ridgeback sitting in the front seat can keep one of those cars secure.
