Default high idle

sometimes my idle will randomely go up to 1500 and sit there. it will start out fine, around 900, but after the car gets hot it gets up there.

i dont jknow if this is related but it also bucks or hesitates when i let go of the gas between 2-3 k rpm. any ideas?

Idle Stabilizer is sticking. It can stick "open" or "closed". One is a low idle, the other low.

I just replaced my ISV with a used one with only 20,000 klms on it, but due to it sitting for some time, it idled at 2000 for the first hour after installation. Once it "unstuck", it went back to normal. It was low with the prior ISV.

Also a bad Idle Control Switch (cheap and easy to change) can cause a bad idle even with a new ISV.

Not sure if the N/A has that switch. The S and S2 do.

It's right next to the factory fender hole for an external air intake. Right behind the drivers side headlight. It's a Bosch part and it sits on what looks like a metal plate and has a wide plug going into it.

AKA "Ignition control module," and yes, I believe it is only S and S2 specific.

I believe it mediates between the DME and the ignition, but couldn't tell you exactly. I do know the car ran like crap when it went bad, bucked just like your S, etc.

Could also be the TPS, I had the problem on my 88 '951. Changing the TPS fixed the problem.
