Angry Cant get engine out, it stuck.

Pulling engine from '84 auto. Can't get engine to come away from torque tube. Its about an inch out, but can't get it any further... Nothing is connected to it, nothing is holding it back, except the driveshaft. Is there anything special at this point that we have to do since its an auto to get it to slide out?

OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH, you have to pull the bell housing off, unbolt the rubber dampener that takes the place of the clutch on the auto trans. You won't need to pull the clip on the end of the TT shaft because you don't need the dampener off of the TT. Hit me on AIM, I'm on now.

Unbolt the bell housing from the back of the engine, reach inside hole where started was mounted, remove 9 each bolts that go thru the starter ring, damper and into flywheel. This will allow you to seperate the engine from the torque tube. After its apart you'll see the snap ring thats holding the damper to the end of the tube.

Yeap. Taking the engine out of an automatic is "different".

The reason for the snap ring on the end of the drive shaft is to keep the drive shaft from pushing the torque converter into the transmission. Has to be there upon reassembly.
