Fishey, the place was different I will agree and it is not my favorite place but the event was safe and it was not a bad event at all. Kil Kare is growing on me, I just dont like the drive to it. Most of the autoxing I do with the OVR and CSCC/SCCA are in large lots like Scarlet Oaks and River Downs. The gaurd rails were the only things that I was concerned with but they never really came into serious play because if you did get crazy, you usually had enough room to bleed off the speed. I must say, it was a "different" autox venue.

Yea Jason, thanks very much. My helmet was knocking the base of the camera mount most of the time, and the visor smacked it a few times as well. All is good, no damage. Next time I'll need to move it over next to the passenger seat. BTW.. you guys asked how it is mounted, it is on a custom camera mount attached to my harness bar.

Fishey... the course was a lot of fun, but yes, the guard rails are a serious concern. I think that helps keep things in check. I would most likely have driven a lot harder if they were not there, and most likely, I would have spun again.

Pretty much any track you go race at is going to have guard rails. Be it turn 2 at Road America or the 1/4 mike at Kil Kare, all of them will have some sort of barrier somewhat close to the track. Parking lots are an entirely different layout than this one, so you really cannot compare. Also, I don't think you can top out 2nd gear in most of the parking lot courses I have seen.

For the spin... DRIVER ERROR. I got after it on cold tires when I should have taken the opportunity to do a slower lap and heat them up properly. Backing off a little when I got loose on the 2nd set of cones would have been a good idea. Pete's Kuhmos were not as sticky as my RE-730's (nor as wide), but I made the mistake of not testing the tires before I tried to make a hard run.

The 4th pass was much better as far as tires go, but they were still a little greasy under braking. I will be purchasing a set of tires this winter, tossing them on my phone dials, buying a camcorder, and heading out to tear it up again.

See ya there!!!

I about **** when I did it. I went back and looked at the marks where I ended up.. between 3 and 6 inches from the rail.

Someone with a very fast Sunbeam (302 V8) hit a pole or something and flattened the left quarter and trashed the rear bumper. It was a shame, that was a very sharp and fast little car.

That guy actually hit a pole on the chain link fence by the end. In order to hit that at the end you had to be way out of control. If you saw the pole, it was moved down the fence a little ways. The car kept on going, which is a testimate to the car. It was a shame, but that is racing, you have to alter your driving to the conditions of the course, if you dont and pay the price then you should learn and move on, I speak from experience. If there is a curb, gaurd rail, tire barier, or concrete wall on the side of the track like at Mid-OH thunder alley, you must adjust the driving accordingly to properly weigh risk vs. gain. If you hit, that was the risk you took. But then again, its just parts, sheet metal, some bolts, maybe a wheel or two and you are back at it again - crazy fools.

my kuhmo 712's are just too hard of a compound. When even I have to make a 90 degree turn from a stop, I light both of them up. ( LSD ) And I do meen 'both' as the diff is deffinately doing it's job.
