Hi All,
Everything went so well with the rebuild yesterday that I suppose it had to happen today.......
Horrible question for you all, how do i get to the waterpump bolts without butchering the belt cover, or removing the crank and balance shaft pulleys? It seems impossible to get to the bolts/nuts??????
This seems totally different to the current engine, and I wonder if there's an update somewhere.? http://members.rennlist.com/pikey7/What_waterpump.JPG (quite a large size, so i don't want to mess up the thread already
)
Thanks

you don't. Everything must go. The rear belt cover must come off to get to the waterpump. So yes, the Crank and Balance Shaft pulleys must come off.

The pulleys have to come off, so does the tensioner. Sorry, no other way. I tried to do it without taking the pulleys off and it was impossible.

I finally got mone off.
The hardest part was the crank bolt, I broke a socket getting it off.
I also picked up the flywheel lock to make the job easier and a 1 man job.
I took the advise of a fellow lister and used a jack with a breaker bar.
once that was off it was easy.
Good Luck

Another good tool for getting the crank bolt is a section of pipe. We took my breaker bar to Lowes found a 6 foot section of pipe that just fit over the handle of the breaker bar. A gentle pull and the crank bolt started backing off.
