Default Flying Spark Plug

The crazyiest thing happened on the way to the forum. I was running hard as i always am....then out of the blue or east I blow the number 4 spark plug. Pop,POP,POP, no HPs pull over then I see this spark plug still connected to the wire (still emitting spark) lying on top of the intake manifold.

I say "what the heck" NOT!!

I was home in less than 1/4 mile - let the car coool down. -- reinstalled the plug and torqued all the others.

Why would this happen to a NA?

striped the threads.

#4 is hardest to get to thus esiest to strip. (not saying you, every person who's ever installed one has helped mung the thing)

Sad to say aint easy to fix. Best way is to helicoil it, that will mean removing the intake. Fix to last until you want to do major work is get some real nice loctite and put that on the threads. Should get you through for awhile.

Helicoil procedure is to get the proper sized helicoil and instilation tools.
Remove everything that keeps you from clear access.
Use drill supplied with helicoil to ream out hole,
Use tap included to re-tap threads,
install helicoil (Like a spring you screw in.)
Oh wait, go back a few steps.
Before you do anything push a rag with a lot of whit lithium greas on it into the cylinder.
Now go back to the helicoil being installed.
Pull out rag pulling out all the metal shavings that you created.
Re-install all removed stuff.

Thanks Sid so far today it decided to stay put! It may not have been torqued correctly from the shop. I'm putting a new motor in anyway in a week.
