Default Dash replacement (944S2)

Friends - considering a 944S2, horribly crashed dashed. Air bag car, of course. For an accomplished DIY'er, how difficult is the dash pad replacement for this car?

THANKS

Brian

My understanding is that it is not difficult, just meticulous and time-consuming.

Here's a link to a pretty detailed write-up on Paragon's website:

Good luck!

If you don't want to replace the dash, you might find something to cover or restore the dash at the following link:

I've done it. Weekend job.

There are great instructions available on the Web.

The real trick is finding a nice dash to serve as a replacement. That's not easy!

For the airbags, just make sure you disconnect the battery before you unplug the airbags. Otherwise the airbag brain will sense a continuity break and the dash warning light and airbag light will stay on. Not the end of the world, it can be reset, but its just easier to disconnect the battery first.

If the car has the EQ below the radio, the wiring for the center console can be a mess getting everything put back in place.

Otherwise dash replacement is pretty straight forward. Just be patient and slow with the plastic trim pieces: if you need to force it to get it off there is probably another screw you didnt find.
