Default Help With Oil Dip Stick Level

I have been told many different things concerning what level to maintain the oil dip stick level on my 951. Local advice is to maintain it at full (highest stick level) . I would appreciate being educated, what is corrrect? Will keeping the level high cause problems or not?

Best Wishes

I check the oil when the engine is warm (i.e. car has been running but turned off for 15 minutes) and like to see the oil at the top mark on the dipstick. When I check the level on the car when it is totally cold (i.e. been sitting unused for a day or more), I find that the dipstick shows only at the halfway mark or the two-thirds mark.
