I'm running a 89 turbo oil cooler mount on an 84 block. It's with a 3 piece early style OPRV though, with the sleeve.
What is this sleeve people are talking about, the little steel tube with an O-ring at each end that goes between the block and filter housing?

no, about 3" below that sleeve is another port for oil where the oprv sits.

Ok I read the whole treat but I m not sure about the fitting can some one specified about the fitting of the OPRV ? ok
will the old 3 piece fit on the new model 944 ?
what are the OPRV that will fit the old 944 ?
will the old 944 or year model take the new 1 piece OPRV or will it only take the Retro fit ?
thank you.

I have the early block and the 3 piece is the only way that I could get anything to fit. I didn't want to invest about 450.00 into the newer retrofit OPRV. The later and longer OPRV won't fit the 83 block. I have the cooler hoses running to an oil cooler from a late model S2 I think, it's a larger cooler than came off the 86 rig. Had to be modified ..to take the AN fittings. The aeroquip dealer took pity on me (car enthusiast too) and welded up the cooler. They have Metric to AN fittings for the sideplate.

So does anyone know whether the 87-88 924S had the earlier block or the later block? I know the thread says early block cutoff at 86, but since the 924S had essentially the same motor as the early cars, I'm not confident it has the later style block? Would like to do this mod on my 1988 SE, but need to be certain which housing and OPRV to purchase...
