Anybody ever heard about this??

Owner Notification Date: Oct 06, 1989
Number of Units Potentially Affected: 1936
Component Description: SUSPENSION:INDEPENDENT FRONT CONTROL ARM:LOWER
NHTSA Campaign Number: 89V133000 Schedule an Appointment

Description of Recall Campaign: THE ALLOY A-ARMS MAY HAVE A MANUFACTURING CASTING DEFECT AND COULD CRACK AND BREAK AFTER MILEAGE ACCUMULATION.
A-ARM BREAKAGE COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL WHICH COULDRESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.

REPLACE SUSPECT A-ARMS.

SYSTEM: SUSPENSION/A-ARM.VEHICLE CATEGORY: PASSENGER CARS.

yep, there was a lower control arm recall for P cars. the dealer should be able to check from your VIN if the procedure was completed on your car.

Was this for ALL 89 944's? Or from 87-91? I just ordered rebuilt arms, but don't tell me all I have to do is go to a dealer and have them put in FREE brand new parts under warranty?

Further digging shows that is only for the 88 models.

Interesting... the previous owners only real work done was the control arm on my '89. hmmmm......
