Looks mid-engined to me. Notice how pitch black the rear side windows are. Combine those windows with the short rear overhang and we've got a middy and not a rear engined car. Also the front bumper is covering the real fascia. What's more, look closely at the headlamps as they look to be truly round lamps with painted surrounds perhaps to disguise them. One other thing, the 996TT test mule had the same rear fender openings as this car and those didn't make production either.

We're looking at a Porsche but I think it's alot more disguised than we think it is.

Looks like a 996 with a body kit to me. I have a black 996 in the shop right now and they do not look that far apart.

But maybe that's what they want us to think....dunno

Look carefully from the B-pillar back....that's 100% disguised... i.e. a fake 911 rear windsheild and rear quarter windows/panels to cover up the true lines of the coupe. See too the poor fitment of the cover disguising the front bumper.

It IS a Boxster coupe, but not a true picture.

And that yellow thing that keeps showing up is clearly a Photoshop job.

Porsche is going down hill. Not enough model variations, not enough HP, not enought separation between models. Can anyone really tell a boxster from a 996 from the front? Why not make something completely different. Even the interiors are extremely similar. Give us some variations, something new! Not a knock off 996. JMHO

I could go on all day about this. Porsche claims they need the Cayenne for financial stability, especially right now due to the sluggish sales of the 986/996. Uh, then how about freshening/expanding the core product base the company made its name on - freaking sports cars! A true entry level sports car in the $25-35k range would probably provide good income for them, without the SUV stigma. Seems like a no brainer to me. They are really hurting their image these days.

To all those reading this forum the car shown in the picture was reported by exellence magazine in 2 different issues (#116 pg127 and #117 pg95)to be the new 911 base car the 997. And might possibly house a flat 8 or v8 in the rear.
