Fuel Line Leak, How can I repair this?
I have a hairline crack on the fuel line (show in this picture with the red arrow). It does not leak a lot by I am afraid one day this line might start leaking more and more. What is this hose for? How can I fix this, is this a certain part I can get somewhere?

Listen to Redeye! A leaking fuel line could cause an engine fire.
Porsche had a recall about these fuel lines. The dealer should replace it without costs. Check with your dealer if this is also the case for your car.

From: Central Illinois. Cornfields a plenty.
If you DO drive have a fire extinguisher very handy. and be careful taking it off the fuel rail- the rail can also spring a leak if torqued on too hard.
New OEM fuel lines- couple hundred bucks.
Fire in engine bay- tragedy.
Most of the recalls were done in the early to mid 90's. you may get lucky - have a local Porsche dealer run your VIN to see if the work was performed.

Recall?
Hmm. I wasnt aware of the recall for this line. Is there an expiration on a recall? I will call them and see if they can fix this for me. If not, I need to find a way to fix this damn hose. The hairline crack seems to be cause of a brittle hose. I also notice that some of the rubber hoses in this car (specially wiring insulation) are brittle and cracking..

No expiration, if you r car has an open campaign(recall) they will take care of it for you at no cost. Haver the dealer run your VIN and find out. If not, I think it's about 40 bucks.

I just called PCNA 1-800 to check on 3 P-cars and although they were very helpful, they really didn't have a clue what I was talking about. Gave them 3 VIN's and they told me there was no recall on the 85.5 (but I know this is the same line as the later cars), a recall for the 88 TurboS but there is some confusion as to whether this applies to my car, and none for the 92 968 Cab.
Looking at the 2 early cars, I can see they are identical fuel lines, and very hard rubber. The crimps onto the fuel rail show "2 crimps" whereas I have read that the replacement should have 3 CRIMPS. Can someone who knows definitively advise?
In anycase, I think I'm going to change these just for safe measure. Not worth going through what Perry951 and others experienced in a fire!
