Default Child Seat revisited - LATCH hardware?

I tried hooking up my child seat using the rear shoulder-belts, forward-facing, and couldn't get it so the seat was held solidly. I was able to use the top teather, hooking it to that bracket inside the hatch. But the belts didn't tighten enough.

I was thinking if I can somehow buy the lower LATCH hardware, and install it by bolting it to the floor under the rear seats (or something) it would be really easy to secure the child seat in the back. Anyone do this, or, try?

So near, and yet so far!

What kind of seat is it? I need to find one myself. My little girl is outgrowing the only seat I have that fits in the S2.

I have a Century STE 1500. I think it's the smallest seat/base around. It would fit in the back seat, facing forward, no problem. Securing it is another story!

Pics of the seat just sitting there on the back seat? No. I could try and snap a few tonight if you want.

Just so I know what to look for. There are a few places around here that sell second hand baby stuff. Sometimes they have good deals on child seats.

I'll take a photo tonight.
The seat fits right in there. If only I could use the car's belts, it would be fine.

Were infant seats even around in the 80's??

I have two seats that I bought directly from Porsche. The first is an infant seat that is rear facing and the second is a front facing seat for my two year old. They both fit well with just the shoulder harness.

The toddler seat has a tether at the top in back. Your S2 should have a insert in the floor under the carpet in the back behind the rear seat. I made a braket that I can bolt in and attach the tether there. I don't think that it is necessary but I feel better with it attached.

Chris--What kind of "insert" is there under the carpet? Do you have any photos?

If you pull up the carpet in the back you will see a threaded hole centered behind each rear seat. It's covered by the black rubber mat under your carpet. The mat should have a circle cut into in on each side, lift the cut out piece up and you should see it.

Just found out that we are going to have our first baby! I did some research on the Net, and was told that this seat fit our 944s:

Has anyone tried the Recaro child seat?

Here are some ideas on fitting a child seat on 993s...perhaps this will also work on 944s:

Performance Parts also sells the genuine Porsche child seat:

A friend bought two of the Recaro seats and was dissappointed. Stay with the Britax, they make the seats for Porsche.
