If anyone has a spring from a lighted key that they would be willing to part with, I could certainly use one.

 

if memory serves, there are two springs, one that operates the pushbutton, and one that is associated with the retainer for the key - if you are anywhere close to me, I have a huge box of springs you can sort through to find something that will work. - of course, luck of the draw, you aren't very close - the spring though is pretty common - take apart an old keyboard or something.

 

It is the one that goes under the battery for the pushbutton.

 

just get any spiral spring that fits, it's thin wire, about three loops.

 

Could probably even manufacture something crude but functional if you were so inclined.
