Watched my best friends 14 year old son die today
I took my daughter and her friend to a county fair today and on the way home we came upon an accident that had just happened. A guy in a pick-up truck doing about 60mph had broadsided a kid on a ATV that had come across a field and pulled out right in front of him.
The kid was trapped under the ATV and the ATV was trapped under the front of the truck. Right after i stopped a volunteer fireman stopped too. We tried to get the out but there was no way. I watched the kid die under that truck. When I turned around i saw my best friend, it tookj about 5 seconds before i relized it was his son under the truck. I had not even recognized him.
Just want all you parents out there to give your kid(s) an extra hug tonight because you never know if they are going to be a live tommorrow.

OMG I am truly sorry that you had to witness that. I had two guys that work for me hit by a lady on there cycle a couple of months ago. I saw the whole thing thought my friends were going to die. Luckly both made it. I will be saying a prayer for you as well as for your friends family. Man this is just horrilble how all of this misfortune is happening to members here or there friends.

My prayers are with you and your friend's family. I hope your daughter and her friend (it sounds like they were with you) are able to handle seeing the aftermath of the accident, just knowing someone they knew was killed without seeing it can be difficult enough. They, and you, may need a lot of support.
While I know kids need to develop their independence, it used to terrify me when mine were out on their bikes, etc. I have had too many friends who have lost their children. There but for the grace of God could be any one of us . . .

My condolences go out to you as someone's father and someone's best friend. I can't imagine being in either position and wish you all the best in the weeks to come in your recovery from the situation. To everyone else, please, please, please be careful out there!

Dave, sorry to hear about such a tragedy and that you had to witness that. Nothing can ever prepare us for such a sight. I am originally from the northern part of the state, my dad still lives in Malone, he told me about the accident too, it's just plain sad...
My thoughts and prayers are with the boy's family,

That hurts. I am sorry for all losses this week and those affected. I have two boys and that is my single greatest fear in life. I hope your friend is seeking counseling. I don't know how well I could handle something like that.
