To answer a few of you:
The middle number is the sidewall height expressed as a percentage of the width. i.e. 225/50/16 is that the sidewall height (divided by two) is 1/2 of 225mm. Therefore, the sidewall height is 112.5/2 or 56.25mm. This is not always a correct measurement but it is the relative height, i.e. a 205/55/16 is actually about .1 mm taller but the measurement given is the same. The discount cards that I have entitle you to cost plus 10% and a special mounting, balancing, road hazard package. On a set of performance tires it equates to about 300 dollars off (give or take), shoot me an address and I will send one snail mail.
The Ecsta MX is a pile of junk. I have them on my vert and I can attest to the fact that they are crap. Wet traction is abhorrent and after 5K they are the loudest tires I have ever owned. They were however CHEAP. If not my own product I would be looking at the AVS ES100 as it is a nice compromise tire. S-03 if money is not an object and RE-750 if it was.
As far as the handling. The 205 and 225 is what the factory used. I am not saying they know best because that is not always true (especially when it comes to tires) but it is a pretty common fitment on a lot of vehicles. It would be damn near impossible to mount a 225 on a 6 inch wheel (I could do it but you wont like the results once it is on). I thought about using that same setup on my Turbo (the 205/225) but I had a few discontinued S-02s lying around in my stores and went with the larger fitment. Tires are cheap and throw away items, give it a shot on the 6/8s and see how YOU like it not how someone thinks you will like it.
