Default OT - Finally topped out the Turbo Miata

The title says it all. There is a nice straight stretch of Autobahn on the way to work. To bad this little car is geared so short. It pulled up to redline in 5th without breaking a sweat. Actually I realized my camera was turned off so I had to hold the car at 7000rpm while my slow digital camera "booted up"

I have gone over 270kph in a friends '89 turbo S, 131mph in my Miata felt much more exciting. It definately felt like I had gone to plaid......

prepare ship for ludicrous speed. Close the shopping centers, secure all animals in the petting zoo, cancel the three ring circus.... JUST GO

hehe good to see you guys have all seen spaceballs.

Specs from my website....

Here are the specs..
- Greddy Turbo Kit (TD04 Mitsubishi turbo)
- Mitsubishi Starion Intercooler
- Jim B's intercooler pipes kit
- Autometer boost gauge
- Autometer EGT gauge
- Autometer A/F gauge
- A Pillar mount for gauges
- BEGI Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
- Walbro 342 hp fuel pump
- BIPES Aux timing Control Unit
- NGK colder plugs
- Valve Cover Breather
- Bosche Posilok 4 wire O2 sensor
- FM Turbo PCV valve

I don't have any dyno sheets just yet. I have a new cat-back exhaust that should be here tommorow and a new downpipe that should be here in a week. After I get the exhaust all setup I am going to a local Bosche sevice center that has a dyno. The stock exhaust is just way to restrictive to put down any serious power. Although just like it is at 5-6psi it will lay the smack down on a 944.

Once I get the exhaust I am setting the car up at 8psi.

That car must be great fun to drive, how does it behave when coming on boost. Is is possible to go on half throttle and gradually increase power when coming out of bends without getting to much of the ketchup effect?

Throttle response is excellent, you can really modulate the power. Or you can give it hell and let the *** end hang out which is fun too

What the heck is the ketchup effect?

Yeah, the car isn't really that much fun to ride in. He has also done some suspension work to it, which was WAY cheaper than suspension parts for a 944... Well, he will occasionally jerk the wheel and throw my head into the passenger window. Not cool. It is REAL quick now. It is real twitchy if you want it to be. He got the back end to come out one time with me. We took a 45 right and then an immediate 90 left at about 45mph and the back end came out just for a sec. He let off the gas and it snapped back into place. Killer stuff. Too bad it's his wifes car.

It wasn't because of lack of power, as you can see the tach is pegged at 7000rpm...
