Default Post fire rebuild page/pics

I have been making some progress with putting my car back together so I put a page up with some of the relevant info and pics etc. The page wont remain at the URL where it is right now but in the mean time here it is. The page will also get updated a bit whilst the rebuild continues.

Sweet man, you kept it! I remember you saying parts or selling it, glad you decided to revive her.

It looks like the 944 logo that's also on the rear on top of the tail lights. It's a really nice touch IMHO.

OZ,
any idea what caused the fire initially? looks like your doing well with it. where did you get the new wiring for the engine bay, vacuum hoses, etc.

Yes it is a 944 badge, I bought one when I wasn't thinking straight during the original rebuild, so I thought I may as well stick it on the front bumper. It seems to suit that spot.

Jason, the fire was the result of a failed (stripped) bolt that holds down the fuel rail near #4 injector. It allowed the fuel rail to flex and the injector to leak fuel onto the engine. The wiring harnesses came from a friend, Ebay and Iceshark. The vacumm hoses are Nappa silicone.

It looks like that happened at TWS, what event was it? Are you going to be there in November?

Matt,

Yes it was at the LSR PCA DE @ TWS in the last week of April. I will definitely be back at the track in Nov. I am hoping to have it back at the track in late Sep (touch wood).

Hey man, glad to see your making progress, let me know if you need a hand with anything! I now have a '79 924 sitting in my driveway that needs some TLC. Anyway, glad to see that "the beast" will soon be tearing up the track again!

I will see you there. I will probably be working grid or some such. My wife is driving a black 84 911 widebody in the green group.

is that dynamat light?if so is there anything else like it and light weight, have you guys heard of brown bread?any good?i want to get rid of all the weight and replace it with lightweight carpet(walmart carpet-speaker carpet).my car is currently stripped, all carpet and most off the dynamat off,i just have to take the ones under the dash.honestly,i saved quite a bit of weight.i weighed only the rear carpets(rear seats back) and it weighed in at 45 lbs without the spare or back seat.i put the back seat on and got 65 lbs, just imagine with the spare!front weighed about 15 lbs or more.im quite happy with the results but the foam is a PITA to come off.how did you do yours?TIA

Matt, I look forward to meeting you at TWS. Was that black 3ltr 951 West Dillards car ?

FTY, I explained the fire cause a little earlier in the thread.

Sharky, how goes it. I saw your post about the 924, I hope both of your cars workout well.

ewainwright, thanks man.

No the dynamat is not light. I have some other material in the rear deck area and it weighs a lot less than the dynamat. I think the 33sqft dynamat weighed about 20lbs. As for the foam I dont recall it being too much of a problem..... ahhhh now I remember why, I asked my girlfriend to take it out
