Default what hardware goes on this timing tensioner stud (aka oil pump stud)?

I've spent all day running searches here and reading dozens of threads. It seems that most people are aware of only 2 oil pumps for the 944, when there are in fact at least 3. The area which the stud goes through on the oil pump can be either 23 or 30mm, but I have a pump which is about 42mm. Also, every mention of the stud, either here or at vendors, is about a version with waaay more threads, which allow for a special nut to tighten down on the oil pump. The stud sticks out by 85mm.

So on cars with a stud (i.e. manual timing belt tensioner) it would be oil pump, special nut, a 7mm spacer (if it's a 23mm oil pump), then the tensioner roller, washer, and nut.

But on mine, there's no way I can do that - the threads don't go far enough.

I don't remember how to put it back together, and neither PET nor the FWSM have any pics or procedures for my version. My best guess is that the tensioner butts up against the pump itself, and the oil pump is fastened along with the tensioner with the outermost nut alone. Is that right?

This is the stud on my '86 engine. My '83 parts-engine is the same.

have you consulted the PET for a diagram?

tbh i don't recall ever seeing a spacer after the big nut.

Yes, like I said I checked PET and the FWSM. There's no mention, picture, etc of this kind of stud.

I have seen this same kind of stud on other engines, so I know it's not some hardware store stud, but I can't remember the order of assembly. It seems strange if the oil pump gets torqued down via the tensioner roller.

Take the stud out and turn it around. They typically have two sections of threads, one short and one long. The short section goes in the block. The stud will break if it is not torqued before installation of the roller.

Turn it around? Why, it's not backwards.

Well if nobody knows, it makes me even more wary. I went and ordered the more common stud and the shouldered nut.
