Default rear shock...

If I were to use some carrera shocks like what I run on my midget with coil overs then can I remove my torsion bars? I have approx 20 carreras lying around some adjustable etc. I can take them to advanced suspension techniques where I get all my rebuilds dynoing etc done and the ends changed to suit me. If I were to do this what spring rate would be recommended?

The valving and stroke of your circle-track dampers are completely different from that which would be needed for a street car. Speeds and movement are very different, as is weight. Not knowing much about Carrera shocks, I would wonder if the type you use on that midget have parts available to convert them for street/944 use.

Spring rate is up to you, and dependent on what front springs you will run. For more on how they work, and how to make a realistic comparison, check out this tech article:

Good Luck!

I can get them revalved easily, I have a large spread of rates on hand some same rebound & compression some split some with remote adjusters (handy) etc etc. Thanks skip! with stock fronts what be a good spring rate? I have tons of hyperco springs linear and progressive rates with several heights

With stock fronts, maybe go with 300 linear, or 250-400 progressive. Personally, I would go at least to 200 or 250 in the front and up the rears to match. 250 up front, 450 in rear sound gouda.

I hope those springs are 2.25" ID - fitting 2.5" will be a little difficult. Also, worry about the lower perch mount - you'll need to modify it for strength and spacing... probably the top too.

Good Luck!

I have a set of PRo shocks on the rear of my car(circle track shock????)I run 2.5" 400 lbs up front and 2.5" 600 lbs rear....no need to stiffen the tops and the bottoms are ok and clear well with the later style control arms.
mine is a little stiff for a 2211 lbs but will probably drop it 100 lbs or so
what ever you have in the front go 100 lbs more in the rear to start if you have a good choice of springs try them to see what you like the best
