Default brake light troubles

hello everybody I have developed yet another electrical issue, the brake lights this time, first off i installed the only 944 additional light kit and the right side light didn't work so I routed out that problem (I installed the leads backwards)
once I got both lights working I realized that the brake lights didn't work causing me to re check the connections witch were all good the fuse was still good and both tail lights worked so I'm confused where to go from here is there any thing i'm missing or should i break out the multitester

Sounds like your regular tail lights were working ok but the brake lights were not, right? Is this a three brake light car? If so, does the center brake light work? If so, the problem is isolated to the tail light housing wiring or light bulbs. If it's a 2 brake light (early) car, either same issue or a bad brake light switch. Another common problem is corrosion in the bulb sockets. They don't make contact due to corroded contacts or the spring is stuck. So, brake light switch first, bulbs next and sockets third.

Also check the ground points for the tail lights. If the lights don't have a good ground, they won't draw enough current to light up properly.
