The TPS (throttle position switch) is located on the throttle body opposite the throttle linkage. It is dark brown plastic and has an electrical connector plugged into it. The ISV (idle stabilizer) is underneath the intake manifold. Not the white plastic thing, the other gizmo.

Does the S have an idle-adjustment screw?

I could not find one. I was looking on the throttle body.

I am having the exact same issue. Keep us posted.

Thanks.

Yes- I've been looking for the idle adjustment screw on the S also.

What engine type is the 944S? M44.40 I'm guesing?

From the factory manuals:

Model 87 onward
Engine type M 44.40/41 (3.0 l)

Note
It is no longer possible to adjust the idle speed. The throttle valve connector adjustment therefore no longer applies

Me too, but I hear about this screw being adjusted and it keeps being brought up when people have problems with their S's and S2's.

Danno, I did what you said and my idle shot up when the car got hot to approx 1300rpm. I am only 1/4 turn from the screw completely closed and that is when I get a 900-950 idle. If I turn it out any further, the idle starts to go up and I see some hunting at times.
This also only happens to me when my car warms up. When cold, the dile drops normally and stays steady at 900-950 rpm. I just ordered a ISV from sunset and the cost was $99 plus shipping. I will try to test teh TPS just to be sure but I could swear it clicks when closed.

Wow. I cant believe this. the 924S JUST STARTED doing this this week. I thought it was a tank full of bad gas, but I filled up today and drove to Chicago and it still wanders at idle just after starting..
She'll start up fine, drop to 800 rpm once or twice, and then its fine. Idle doesnt wander after warmed up, or at a stoplight- just at start.

I thought FPR, but it's been fine since i put on the new fuel rail and swapped my old regulator onto the rail..

I think I'm gonna run some Techron thru it tomorrow when I burn thru another tank of gas and see if it goes away..
