1984-1985.5 engine swap
I have a 1984 944 I am starting to get a few problems with the engine it's a 2.5L with a manual trans. I also have a 1985.5 944 2.5L it's an automatic. So my question is can I put the engine form the 1985.5 in the 1984? What are the differences in the engines and what would I need to change?
Thanks

you need to change the flywheel/clutch assembly onto the newer engine, along with one of the coolant temp sensors, and the idle air valve under the intake. (put the 84 stuff on the 85.5)
run the engine on the 84 DME/AFM.
run the engine on the 84 DME/AFM.

1983 944 engine test
Hi this is my first post. I have a 1983 944 , I bought the car without the engine in it . The owner drove the car until the timing belt broke ,he bought another engine that was previously running
and had a new timing belt and water pump put on it. I then bought the car with the 'new ' engine, along with the blown engine the car is in good condition. I did not want to just install the 'new' engine into the car without knowing if it really ran properly . I decided it was worth my while to put the engine on a test stand and run the engine . This required an external fuel pump ,filter ,all the necessary wiring to start the engine ,which I did.I did get the engine started ,the exhaust system was connected . It sounds good I would like to know what other people think about the sound . I have posted a 11 minute video on you tube ,titled ' Porsche 944 run on test stand' please view and tell me what you think.
