Default Anyone going to be at Texas World Speedway

There is a DE at TWS the 16th and 17th. Is anyone from the list going? I will be there but not with the p-car. Look for my wifes E34 540i with the Hamanns. I will be working somewhere I am sure, maybe a corner or in tech. It would be very cool to meet up with some of you if you are planning on being there. They are running the course "backwards" which will be a real treat. Too bad my p-car is in pieces in the garage.

These events are always fun. Have you worked at one before? Kinda fun to be "on track" and at a DE there are always a lot of offs that make it worth watching. I would suspect there will be a lot of offs in turn 1 (would be turn 13 usually) and more in 10/11 than usual. Is the 914 really available?

Wow, in reverse eh ? there are gonna be some high speed entries to the banked straight returning some pretty impressive top end speeds further along!

I wont be at this one but probably the one after.

Matt, sure, but before you get excited about the teener, have a look. IF you still want to collect the parts from the garage (including the piles of rust dust) you can HAVE it!

I have only driven it once in reverse and it was in an EV!:>) I would think that top speed would be a little higher, but there is a hell of a transition from the (usual) turn 1 onto the Oval. My fear would be missing that entry and heading straight into the wall. You could probably carry 60+ into the entry and with a little unsettling of the tires you might even go backward into the wall. I guess since this is a DE they will try to limit the speed, it will be better for passing because there are only a few passing zones on the course for a DE. Front straight/back straight and between 10/11

Non-issue I just remembered they are running the short course. That will cut speeds WAY down. Although, the track is arguably more fun that way.

Kevin, James......

If you guys are interested in going, I might as well. I'll have to see though. I'm going to be out of town a couple of days this week and am working a lot of late hours too. Kerry might want me around this weekend.

If we go, I can bring two SA2000 helmets, just in case someone wants to give us rides.

It is a PCA event with the LSR and MR (i.e. houston/dallas) area clubs. If you are sure you want to work I will let someone know, they can always use volunteers. Have you ever worked an event before?

Nope, never worked one, never even been to one.

Perhaps as a 47 year old middle-aged newbie, I should sit this one out and watch the pros

I'm on vacation,,,,don't want to work TOO hard. Saving myself for those motor mounts. LOL

It is pretty easy stuff. I can teach you to flag in a matter of minutes. It is hot but not what I would call "hard work." It is a lot of fun, you are very close to the track and this event will not be very loud since it is a DE. It can get very loud on track during a club race for instance. By the time it is over at a club race I am beat. Just let me know for sure and I will set it up. You can work with me.

I have to work this weekend (big surprise!), so I will not be there.

I mean I really have to work this weekend. Just had a new A/C unit put in the house yesterday. I am officially BROKE . Crap. I had to dig into the humidor to find something to give the A/C guys for a tip. They seemed to enjoy the smokes though.

James, you should work a corner for the event. I worked turn 10 at the club race. It was pretty fun.
