I would definately like to hear input and stories. If possible, do you know what kind of laser was used? How much? Long term effects? I hesitate to say money is no object, but I think we'd all trade our Porsches for our eyes. 23 and not too blind, but not amazing. It's something I've definately thought about.

I've been seeing a lot of Ministry avatars lately...

iloveporsches et al

You don't want to have it done when your young. Mid 30's or later. Your eyes will vary throughout your early years, so if you get it corrected now in as short as two years you'll need help again. I wear contacts and it's fine.

For a bit of trivia on how the process was discovered. Guy had some broken glass get in his eye, it made a radial cut (as in radial Kerototomy) They went in, got the glass out, bandaged him up so he could heal and all. When they took the bandages off he said he could see better. Arrruh?

I'm on the near edge of 50. Had mine done in late 2000. Everybody on here has positive comments, but somebody has to stir up the soup a bit! I had 20/20 for the first 4 months after lasik, with the corresponding sacrifice of near vision (reading glasses absolutely necessary). But towards the end of the first year, astigmatism began to grow back in, and my distance vision degraded at about the same rate that my near vision improved. So now, nearing 3 years later, I'm around 20/45 in one eye, 20/50 in the other. Still OK to drive without glasses, but I'm noticing the degradation. The other thing is I can't drive safely after the sun goes down, so I don't anymore. Has really screwed up my afterhours. So I guess all in all, lasik is OK, but make sure you get it done while you're still young, under 30 for sure. If you wait until later, the benefit will not be as long lasting and there may be the night time or low-light vision loss issue. My $0.02 worth.
