I hate American cars but I would seriously wuss out in any piece of road if that thing pulled up beside me. Who the hell needs handling in the twisties when you have that much power to overtake anyone after the corner.

Pat Bedard, Car and Driver contributor and former Indy car driver, once said (4-5 years ago, though) that the Viper was the closest you could get in a production car to actual race car feel and performance, which I think he was aiming toward the harsh ride and tight, twitchy steering that are sometimes characteristic of cars that handle well. This one has mods for a MORE adjustable suspension. I think it could probably hold its own in the twisties.

I kind of like the way they handle, could definately get used to it, only driven one and it was a stock 97 gts, but it had a good, heavy feel *like a light 4 cyl w/o power steering* but it definately felt like to was driving you and not the other way around. Oh, and 'wow' by the way. 1.8 seconds .. IIRC the Corvette Lingenfelter (sp?) does it in 2 flat

Used to see Vipers all the time even in a small town. After driving one for a few days I can honestly say that I would take the 944T over it. Some things you cant do with:

1) McDonalds drive through, dont ask how I know.
2) Have the oil changed ANYWHERE
3) Change lanes
4) EVER eliminate the fact that it is a DODGE and it felt like it.
5) Brakes SUCK on early models, GTS's dont seem to have this issue as much as the R/T models. Pedal was fading so bad after heavy use it almost scared me.
6) Cant get out of parking garage "SEE BELOW"

Things that put smile on face:

1) Hardcore torque, it will sit you back in the seat without doubt.
2) You dont know fun until you have raced one around the parking garage at your college and had 3 cops waiting for you when you got to the bottom!
3) When I say the bottom I mean the entrance because the exit was too steep and I couldnt get it out. Got to hold up traffic to back up the exit and then go down the entrance!
4) People really do stare, these are relatively rare.

Maybe some of these guys have driven them which is why they can say they wouldnt take it. Further, I dont know that I trust the reliability of the Hennesey cars. As a side note, I believe the baddest of the bad is Carmack's Twin Turbo Testarossa, though others will probably disagree.

I say bring it to the N/A, Baby.

I was washing my car one night when a stock (new) viper rolled in. I was waiting for the "look", or the comment-but a really nice 50ish man got out with his wife, and came over to talk to me about my car. A great conversation that I thought I'd never have. No matter the car-just a couple of "car guy's" checking out our cars.
