Default Replacing 951 control arms: OEM or after-market upgrade?

My 951 is making a knocking sound on turns, same as my VW. On the VW it turns out it's the control arm. It's the exact same symptom and sound so I'm looking at a new set of control arms for the 951.

I know in some cases after market parts are better to use, not sure about control arms.

What do you recommend and why?

I recommend checking your 951 and not ordering parts based on a comparison with your VW.

Inspect your control arms. If the ball joints are worn it's usually pretty obvious. Could also be due to worn rubber in your stock caster blocks, and the blocks may need to be replaced.

I looked at them, they look bad, took it to the dealer, dealer says the bushings are shot so back to the original question: which control arms do you recommend for a 944 turbo that are best for "spirited driving"?

If its JUST a bushing, that can easily be replaced. Wells, the rears are simple, the front not so much.

Depends on the year. Guessing yours is an 86.
My 86 has the vw and a M030 sway.
You can also use the vw outer sway bushings...however the clamp for seems to not be in stock in most places.
Some say not to use big sways with steel(not sure if they mean stock steel or these VW) but I haven't had an issue. My steering was super tight when I put it all on....worried me. Then I realized my old ball joints were just terribly old and worn. I have a manual rack on mine so the easy steering is gone. Haha

I have seen post of them bending.....think posters said was due to very hard braking. Would ask some PCA guys as many run steel on track cars.

Also replaced those old bushings cause my right side was rotting. Power steering fluid.
Another reason I prefer the manual rack. I got polyurethane bushings.

Just press in new bushings. Do the ball joints while you're at it.

Hell, I did some yesterday on a picnic table.

If you track the car I would consider steel units.

Should arrive in a day or two and will take me another day or two to put 'em in (guessing)
