Default Are all clutch slave cylinders rebuildable?

I pulled the slave in my new 86, it was junk, the fluid that came out was black. Good news is the clutch looks great! The slave is an FTE brand. I pulled the plunger out and removed the seal, then pulled the star shaped ring out, but the piston isnt coming out and I dont know how to remove it so I can examine the bore. Are all the slaves rebuildable, or only certain brands? Am I doing something wrong? It was my understanding that with the retaining ring out, the spring should just push the piston out, after which I can remove the spring and examine/hone the bore. I dont want to drop 85 bucks on another slave if I can rebuild mine for 20.

Edit: Still curious on this but I just took my chances on what is probably a made in china remanufactured slave, it was only 22 bucks on ebay, literally cheaper than a rebuild kit so I figure if it works, great, if not, I'm only out 30 minutes of my time to replace it again. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Apply air pressure to port and it should come out.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I'll go ahead and rebuild this one and have a spare if my china slave fails. Also, while getting the bleeder out I pretty much ruined the nut, are the bleeders on the slave just standard sized ones like you'd find on calipers? Easy/cheap to source?
