Default Front suspenstion rebuild

When I come back for winter break in late December, I want to do a complete (or as much as $$$ will allow) front suspension rebuild. However, I really don't know what I'll all need. Here's what I can think of so far:

Ball joints
Koni Yellows
Sway bar bushings

I'm sure there's plenty I'm missing. Also, are there any special tools I'll need? I have all the basics from doing the clutch job. I need to start planning some kind of budget for the next couple of months, and want to try and get a price for this project.

Get new strut bushings. The ones at the top. Also the castor bushings.

There are four bushings for the sway bars.

Make sure you get the bolts with the ball joints. Some don't come with the hardened bolts. Use a carbide drill bit to cut through the rivits on the old ball joints (IF they are still rivited).

Get new control arms.
These things are cheap from paragon Like $50 per unit. Less if you don't use the stock rear bushing. They also save you the time of drilling the old arm to replace the ball joint. I have seen cracks in old stock ones event steet driven.

I agree. Get the new control arms without the stock bushings. Then buy the Weltmeister Poly bushings. They are a good upgrade to do when you're replacing everything. They're also alot easier to install than the stock bushings.

Thanks guys. We'll have to see what the budget allows for, but hopefully I'll be able to get the following:

Koni Yellows
Control Arms
Balljoints
Swaybar Bushings
Strut bushing thingy
and possibly new springs

About the springs, what # should I go with? It's a street-driven only (for now) car that'll have Koni's at all four corners and came with M474 sway bars.

Stick with the 200# until you're ready to move up the rear torsion bars. Your rear spring rate is pretty light on the early car - even with the sways you'll end up with a little too much push.

Good Luck!

I know that in the September issue of Excellence Sunset Imports had advertised a complete MO30 Sway bar set up for the 944 and turbo with all mounting hardware on sale for around 325. You might want to give them a call or email them here is their address -> http://www.sunsetimports.com/
