Uh oh... emissions test coming soon...
Anyone wanna place bets that I CAN get the car to pass?
- #55 injectors
- No cat (will have the shell in there to pass the visual)
- Technodyne chips
I am gonna try and resolve the rich idle here in a few minutes.. and if I can get that down, I'm pretty sure I can tweak enough for it to pass. If I cannot solve the rich idle, I'll fail no matter what I do.
What 'cha think??? No chance in hell without a converter, right? Could be interesting!!!

Brian, when I bought my car my mechanic suggested looking into "collector" plates, which I promptly did.
Being identified as a collectible car, it is exempt from Ohio e-Check testing. I got both my original tags and this year's renewal stickers without any fuss. The biggest challenge was teaching the local license bureau that such a thing existed, and how it worked.
Should work at your end of the state too! Just a thought.

UD-Pride started a thread about personalized collector plates a while back. He was able to get a personalized plate for his new 930 and didn't have to go through emissions either.

If you are running with no cats and manage to pass Nox then someones machine is screwed up or the following has occured:
In Texas the base sample is compiled using a group of test subjects. Lets say for kicks and giggles that the test subjects were all pretty tired, your car might actually be within the specified range established by the test group.

Last time around, my converter had 2 of the 3 cells melted away and NOX was not too high. I agree, HC and CO I can get to pass, the NOX will be the intersting part.
Gonna have to call on the collector plates Monday.

If the collector plates fall through, I'll take it to the test site as is. They do a 25mph rolling test with it, typically in 2nd gear. I'll lean it out a bit with the ARC-2 as it is sitting in line ready to be tested. After the test, back to normal.

Getting the collector plates in general though won't be a problem. The state actually references a private publication (can't remember the name) that lists collectible cars/models, and if it's listed there it's good enough for the state....

no matter what you want to pass, if it's that bad, just take off one of your injector wires. This will cause you to have 1 air pump and 3 fuel pumps, the result will be astoundingly low levels of everything. I learned this trick from a mechanic at a Honda dealer I knew a while ago. The car WILL pass emissions. i had 6 times the legal limit, then under 1/200 of the legal limit after I did this. If you are in a state that checks EVERYTHING, they might notice this, but for memphis, it works great for me. It does limit the power from the engine obviously, but it works to get you to inspection and back.
