Default autometer sender question / modified drain plug (oil temp) *Pics*

anyone know how much the end of an aftermarket sender needs to be in the oil? Is just the very tip good enough as even all the way screwed in its not going to protrude out of the opening...
btw-Its barely screwed in the pics, but just checking and showing...

Sam, why not tap into another place where the sender isn't subject to being removed with every oil change? What about the OPRV? It might be easier to get the sender fully immersed.
