Default 951 Balljoints

All, I can only find control arms for my 944 Turbo. I only need ball joints. Are these control arms not serviceable?

Thanks

They are not rebuildable using factory parts, only option with Porsche is to buy new control arms.

Here's the deal with 951 control arms. If it's an 86 you can replace them with the early (up to 85) steel control arms with replaceable ball joints. The arms and ball joints are cheap for the early cars.

Or

If you want to keep your aluminum control arms you can buy a ball joint repair kit on the aftermarket. Plenty offered, google "Rennbay Ball Joint Kit".

also, If new control arms are purchased, they would more than likely be the newer version that came on

S2's and 968's which from what I understand, are only serviceable if you send them to a certain machine

shop that has figured out a process for replacing the ball joints. I'm always on the lookout for inexpensive,

used 968 control arms.

there is a guy in conneticut i believe that keeps trying to sell mismatched sets and when I confronted him, he was a bit nasty.

Yes the 968 arms can't be rebuilt using the Rennbay kit. I had one 944 and one 968 arm on my car, so I had to buy a used arm on ebay to rebuild. I ended up just buying a pair...which I actually recommend because if you end up needing help to press in new front bushings (likely) then you can take your time getting it done and then quickly swap them over when you're ready OP, I would check what you have on the first just to be 100% sure...if your ball joints have a snap ring sealed with epoxy on the underneath, you are good to go. If it looks like the pic in my thread here, then it's a 968 one that you can't rebuild

. I'm always on the lookout for inexpensive,

used 968 control arms.
I presume you mean *not* in need of a rebuild? If you want one to send off for a rebuild, I have one, along with a late offest 944 arm.

Why doesn't Rennbay sell the 19mm extended ball joint kit for lowered cars anymore?

Is there that much of an advantage to the aluminum arms as opposed to steel?
I understand the weight aspect, but would like the option to replace my own ball joints.
I have an 86 951.

Apparently they are stronger, I've known the steel ones to bend especially if you go up on the front sway bars. I have steel on my track car for cheapness and convenience but I boxed them to run a M030 front sway. Anyway on a track car it's better that they bend instead of fracture when they break like the aluminum ones do.

Divil, not right now. Will keep you in mind. I bought an extra pair of rebuild-able arms. They are not exactly the same config. as the 968...missing mounting tabs for the 968 brake scoops, but will work.
