Default Value of 944S2 Cabrio??

I have a question. What is the value of a 944S2 cabrio? Its a 92 model i believe, with 94k miles, new top, good original paint, and in "great condition."

I'm asking, cause the owner is asking $6900. Im not an expert at P-car prices, but isnt this absolutely rediculously low for a car like this?

The value is never enough

Seriously, now. At the latest it could only be a 1991 car. That was the last year they were built.

Such a low price is suggestive of:
a) Prior collision damage that has been repaired.
b) Neglected timing/balance belt/waterpump maintenance that is waiting to crop up.
c) Clueless seller (not entirely unlikely but don't count on it)

Have the car inspected by a specialized shop (yes, pay for a pre purchase inspection no matter how good of a deal the car seems).

Report back. I'm always interested in hearing about new cabrio owners .

Yeah, its a 90, my bad.

The S2's have always been out of my price league, which is why i didnt know that 91 was the last year. I never paid much attention to them, only the regular 944's. But i called the owner and left a message for them to call me back so i can find out some info on it. Hopefully they're just ignorant and dont know what they have.

Ideally, this would happen...

Me - "Uh, yeah, its a 5spd. You'll never sell it. People want auto porsches. I'll give you $4,000 tops on it..."

The owner - "Uh, ok. If you say so, $4k sounds good."

If you get that car for four grand I am going to die. That is an absolute steal even if the other things mentioned did happen. Hopefully they didn't but I would still jump all over that car.

If you figure four grand more even if it needs work it's still a deal.

Atlanta seems to be the place for cars. Last year I saw a cabrio for $5500 and a s2 coupe for $2000. The coupe's ad said that it needed engine work but the cabrio didn't mention it needing any (it still needed work most likely.)

Default That car is LONG GONE!

I called on that autotrader ad last wednesday. Owner says "Oh, I sold that car 2 days ago. The first guy that came by to look at it bought it." Well, duh! This was clearly a case of someone relying on Edmunds to set the price of their car. I even tried to get him to tell me the name/number of the person that bought it, hoping to still get the car at a decent price, but to no avail. I'm using some of my Porsche club connections to try and track down whoever stole this car.

When the ad originally ran, it was listed as a '98 944 cabriolet. Oh well.
