Marc-

Sorry to see this happened to you. If it makes you feel any better, the bumper cover on my S2 is not original. Currently silver originally RED! No paint peeling, but plenty of stone chips.

Good luck with the repair,

Huh? Can you elaborate? I would think Bondo is the epitome of "thickness."

Proper painting of the bumper cover should involve elastomers to prevent any peeling by allowing the paint to flex with the bumper material.

Cheapo body shops don't apply this technology, hence the peeling. Knowing Marc, he'll take the car to a place that knows what they're doing.

Dude, that sucks!

About 6 weeks ago, I went out over lunch in my 951 and got rear-ended by a dump truck at a stop light. Luckily he was going pretty slow, so the damage was relatively minor. Just got my car back from the body shop last Friday.

Yeah, so much for original paint. Just glad to have my baby back!

Wow, I was attempting to pull out of Autozone today and almost got backed into by a brown/primer gray f-150. I layed on my horn and prayed that he would stop. Thankfully he did. His reverse lights were out too.

Holy CRAP! $4k to take the fender off, and swap it with another one? There's no frame damage...it's ALL on the fender, right?

For $4k you can have the entire car re-painted, TWICE!?

That's NEW dealer parts I assume? $1700 for a plastic bumper cover!? Wow. If their insurance will pay, fine. If they give you a problem, you might wanna go used parts?

Did I already ask who your mechanic is Marc?
