Default Help me design a better intake manifold

Too much time on my hands & a newly reorganized garage. Help me design a better intake manifold for my 2.5 n/a. Please.

what makes you think there is something wrong with the old one? The airflow sensor can be improved, but what makes you think the manifold is deficient?

William, very good question! I was hoping others might chime in with regards to deficiencies & ways around it. Honestly I can't leave well enough alone & thought it would be a fun project. In my mind I thought of something like the Lindsey unit but with longer runners. Open to suggestions. Open to the idea that the stock unit can't be upgraded also.

Better areas to tinker with IMO
I doubt you'd see a ton of improvement and if you do pick up a little power other areas in the rev range would probably suffer in return.

Could a variable runner intake like the one found on my Vr6 be beneficial at all? I've noticed that without it hooked up I lose power at high or low RPMs depending on which runners I set the "shifter rod" to direct air into.

I think it would be pretty interesting to see that implemented on a 944. I bet it would help wake the car up a bit.

ITB's!

I assume since you want to play with the mani you have an ac/dc tig welder, or at least a mig machine that can do aluminum. What is your setup?

Extrude hone it? emulate the dual resonance 968 intake? The maf conversion frees up the biggest restriction in the intake system by far, i'd start there.

I don't think there is much to be gained at the intake, money could be better spent than extrude hone and a MAF for the small results those would produce. IMO if you are really serious and want to see real results leave the intake alone and go standalone. Use Electromotive utilizing MAP, lets you get rid of everything between air filter and throttle plus you have dfu control. Just my 2c.

Hmmm...
Interested in what you are saying.
Not familiar with the various stand alone products.
Is Electromotive a brand?
dfu?
Thank you for your time.
I'm here to learn.

Electromotive is the brand, you could also megasquirt it.

Personally? I'd do the rogue tuning maf kit for your NA and go forward from there. It gets rid of the biggest restriction in the intake system and is way cheaper than going standalone. You can then enjoy the car as it is, after that? i'd look at a hotter cam and exhaust.

My set up presently on this street car:
'88 engine with rebuilt head/injectors & 10.2:1 pistons
-Jon Milledge s3-14 cam
-Wilks Race Chip & Motronic @ 3% more fuel
-Deleted BS belt
-4 degree advance on the cam
-Power Steering pump deleted
-Throttle response cam, bigger plug wires
-Cat removed otherwise stock exhaust

I guess it's around 185 horses at the flywheel. It does alright.
