Well after 4 years of a crappy sounding radio, I decieded to check the speaker surrounds. The speaker in the passenger door appears fine. :-(
I was expecting to find rotted surrounds.
I removed the radio, and found there was no 12vdc going to the amp wire, (no power leaving the radio) so when I unpluged the antenna wire it came apart. Looking inside the plug itself, there is a resistor, When I check for continuity from the plug to the other side of the resistor, there is none. How important is this resistor? Can I just solder on a new plug?
Thanks

i'm not sure if i understand which wire you're talking about and where the resistor should be. for me, i just connected the antenna amp wire to the 12v amp turn on trigger coming out of my radio. really, you can splice off any 12v wire but these wires were of similar size so it was easy to use a crimp connector on it. i do have an audio amp in the trunk so i still need it to be turned on so i used a 3 way crimp connecter.
