I was a beautiful day so I decided to tinker around with the 951 in order to get it sorted out for daily use. I have a few minor oil leaks to fix but after checking all fluid levels, lines, etc.. I started her up and went for a drive. After everything was warmed up I headed for a nice straightaway to run her out a little. I got her up to around 5.5K in 4th then had to back her down (ran out of road). She performed just fine so I headed back to my driveway, pulled in, left her running, and popped to hood for a look. Everything looked fine so I dropped the hood and was walking back to the drivers side to switch her off when I noticed a 10 foot section of fiberglass ribbon hanging from the muffler. That tail must have looked pretty impressive while driving through the neighborhood on my way home. Did not expect the ANSA muffler to blow out this way. Guess I have to add a new muffler on the list too!

Don't have a picture. Came right out of the inside of the tail pipe and was still connected to it when I stopped. Hand pulled another 15 to 20 FT out. Still more in there too but its not coming out anymore. At first I though I blew out some critters nest out or something because the car had been sitting for a while but I'm certain its muffler baffle material. Never had a muffler fail this way.
