Floormats......
OK - I'm looking for an excellent set of floormats (actually, as a surprise for Jen) and seeing this Forum is more active then the 911 list - I thought I'd ask here, 'cause "floormats" is "floormats" (I think?? )
A few folks have recommended a floormats made by "Lloyd" (sp?) as being the best made, especially those made a few years ago, if I can find a set..?? Anyone with experiece with these? Can someone tell me why they are "special"? Do they have the model number or Crest? I found a "cheap" set of pretty poorly made ones locally, but I'd like them to hold up - ergo the question about better quality mats....
Thanks for any input..!

Oh Oh Oh I know the answer to this one.
Lloyds uses a good heavy wieght carpet for their mats and they do last for some time. Due to the lawyers at Porsche they can not sell the mats with a crest or with the model # in the correct script. Those are now dealer only parts.
BTW Thanks for such a great website.

I have a pair of the less expensive lloyds in tan no logo/script and they have held up fine so far 1 1/2 yrs.But 944 are different from 911 or 914.I think the quality is quite good,no rips or shreds or loose fibers!I read they are higher quality than OEM.

John,
I just got a set of factory mats for my 911 and I was VERY disappointed, stay away from those.
Replaced the set of Lloyds ones I had in my car for 7 years, the Lloyds were much nicer.
For some reason the factory 944 mats are MUCH nicer.

The Lloyds mats are the best. Most of the Porsche parts vendors have them. Performance Products and Tweek's have them but both of those places are a little pricey.
I have a set in black with the embroidered Porsche crest but I'm taking them with me when I die.
Here I thought that this post would be announcing that our new sponsor was going to give all Rennlist members a set of factory floor mats.

See - I knew I asked the right list Heh..!!!
OK- so *if* I want a good quality mat with the Porsche Model number - I should look for a set of Lloyds..?? Billy W. - any idea when they stopped making them? Also - this may be a "dumb" question (hey - I'm entitled ) but has anyone seen/have a picture of these from that vintage?? Ebay is scattered with "floormats" - and most don't say who the manufacturer is, so picture may help..!
Thanks!!!
(Also - Billy W - you get as excited as I do when I can finally answer a question here )

You can purchase new Lloyd's mats with Porsche model numbers embroidered (using the Porsche font). Lloyds as well as another manufacturer recently settled litigation, with Lloyd's being the only aftermarket company allowed to use the Porsche model # script. Note that you cannot use the Porsche crest nor the word "Porsche." Here is a link to a company where you can buy them (click on the "Porsche Logos" link):

Not sure if this supplier is competitively priced, however it will give you an idea of pricing & styles available.
Have Fun!

See I jump in to answer a question and did not know that a agreement had been worked out so that the companies could use the trademarked fonts.
I will go back to my corner and wait for another question. This is why I only have 140 post yet I have been a lurker for years.

John, US Speed sells Lloyd mats custom embroidered. If you saw my nifty black mats with '968' in yellow at the picnic last week that was them. You could have the script done in whatever color you want. I was very happy with the product. Check ebay.

I have the factory 944 mats. They are very nice, but the Porsche script is the same color as the mat - in my case black. I'd have prefered to have had the script in red. Oh well. I used my Porsche rebate coupon last year to buy them. If I recall they were about the same as the Lloyd's mats, just over $100 for the set (front and rear).
