Default Alternator tap - best place?

Hello all

Getting ready to install my H4 headlight harness off the alternator.

On my 944S2, I almost immediately bump against the alternator rear cover and cooling system.

So question - do I:

A) still go for the tap inside the alternator, maybe put a side grommet through the alternator cover and pull the H4 power leads out to the fuses and relays etc via a waterproof quick disconnect (in case I need to replace alternators in a hurry)?

Or B): trace the main alternator output wiring down until it reaches a connection terminal (probably near the battery), and take my H4 main power from there instead?

Yes, I know, option B will then include whatever resistance the main wiring line from alternator to terminal has, but eventually I'm going to be replacing that too with an IceShark kit, so hopefully that will minimize the loss.

Both will work. Which option is better?

Thanks!

Ditch the alternator cover and wire directly to the alternator post with a ring terminal, 8-10 ga wire...

I ran it through the hole that the grommet sits in so I could maintain the cooling duct. That part doesn't need to seal perfectly.
