Default Sunroof wind deflector rattling (roof closed)

Hi,
I have had an issue for a while where over rougher roads and big bumps there is a loud rattling noise from the front of the sunroof.

I had fiberglassed the inside of the sunroof trim panel years ago so I figured that was the problem, but I added a sheet of foam inside the sunroof as well and the rattle is still there.

If you bang your fist on the roof sheetmetal between the sunroof panel and the windshield the noise can be recreated while parked. While feeling around it seems if I touch the sunroof wind deflector flap thing the noise goes away, making me pretty sure the flap is the problem.

I am going to remove the flap and see if the noise goes away, but as a more permanent fix (for when the roof comes off), how could I go about ending the rattle? The hinges for the deflector were replaced around 2006 so they should be OK (only had the roof of so many times over the years) but I suppose they could be broken.
