Default heater hose question

So I'm about to purchase another 944 cab but noticed that the heater hoses that connect to the hard line on the firewall (engine side) are disconnected, and the hoses are also missing from the hard line found on top of the exhaust manifold.

In speaking with the owner, he stated that the mechanic disabled/deleted it because the owner will never use it. I'm not sure what to say/think so I'm looking for insight into this.

Should I reconnect it or what? Is it bad to have these disconnected?

I would reconnect, add and bleed the coolant and check for leaks at the heater core. Could be it was disconnected due to a leak and that heater core is not an easy thing to change.

Only issue leaving them disconnected is you don't have heat or a demister which means you will fog up your windshield on cold days.

Thanks for the reply. The owner just had a bunch of maintenance done on the car last month (water pump, radiator, etc) so I think they removed it then. If there is a leak in the heater core does it only leak when I turn the heat up, or does it leak all the time?

If the core has a leak, it will leak due to the pressure on both sides of the heater core and not just the heater control valve.

On most cars dash removal is required to access.

I just reversed a heater core delete in my early car. It is a pain in the *** to work in there because it is tight, especially pushing the hose onto the heater core nipples. On the early car you can put the hose clamps on from under the dash without removing anything, so that was nice, but not sure if it will be the same for you.
