Default 944 wont start

I have a 83 944, I recently adjusted the balance belt and timing belt because I had to replace the balance belt tensioner, and after I replaced it the car was running extremely rough and was loosing power as I was driving, after adjusting the belts the car is still loosing power and running really rough, today I went out and when I put the car in gear and take my foot of the clutch it stalls out, now it won't start, it just turns over but sounds strained and really rough. I'm thinking it's maybe the ignition coil. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Was it running fine before you played with the timing belt? If so, I'd start with the timing...

No, the whole reason I had to play with the belt was because the tensioner went and I though the timing was off, but now it just won't start

Could be many different things, pull the plugs and see if they are wet/fouled.

Are you sure the timing is right? if it was off is it possible something bent?

If the timing is right I would check the basics...air/fuel/spark and see which one is missing or insufficient to keep the car running

Did the timing belt slip at some point? If things weren't aligned when you started the belt change, you could have bent valves.

as everyone has told you, set the crank to TDC using the marks on the flywheel and then make sure the cam is on TDC - if it isn't, that's a problem. If it is, then we can look elsewhere, but do that first. If it is not set right and is off by more than one tooth, set it right and then run a compression check to see if you have bent any valves.
