I had the Audiobahn AS46Q in my front and just the other day moved them to the back in place of JBL’s in the front. Make sure you read the directions before you put them in they have a weird set up for the tweeter and it took my a little time to figure it out. Also it’s a real tight fit they have probly the biggest magnet you can get on the 4x6 and they do hit the window track I had to put a cut up mouse pad back there and the drivers side took several try’s to get the grill mesh to stay on. Sound wise before I moved them they were very good for the price very little distortion at high volume. Now that they are in the back and are not hitting any thing I do think they sound a little better, but not much, they are just a very good speaker overall.

I thought they were "direct replacements", using the spacers provided with the speakers? What's this about mouse pads??

I used the spacers but they still hit the window tracks a little so I cut up a mouse pad into circles and put them behind the magnet so it was not metal hitting metal you dont have to do it.

I wonder if later model cars have more clearance?

Also, how do you remove the OEM speaker grills?? I tried prying, but they just wont come off.

Help?

OEM speaker grills come off with 4 screws in each corner.

Do I have to pull the metal grill off FIRST? There are no screws that are visible?

Andy do you have the metal covers? The actual metal is glued to the plastic trim, the trim clips onto a bracket the speaker screws into....simply pry a bit on the edges of that plastic trim and it should pry off.

yes, the later model(88+) cars have covers that just pop on, no screws visable. Just pry around the edges until it pops off. Trust us!!

Just hope the PO didn't crazy glue the whole thing to keep from popping off . . . i've come close to doing this with my turbo.

I may have to break mine off...ithey just wont budge. Not a problem....unless the new speakers don't fit. Then I'll have holes in my doors till I solve the problem!

The way these speakers are designed, the tweeter wiring sticks out of the back of the magnet, and connects to the leads. I hope the wires dont get hit by the window going up and down?

If I can get my damned speakers OUT of the doors, I'll be able to put the Audiobahn's in, and see what's what.

The Audiobahns LOOK like a million bucks...very good quality for a $45 set! Hope they work out. Otherwise, it's back to looking for the Blau pcxi 462's.
